In today’s world, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by negativity. Our health is under attack from processed foods, stress plagues our minds, and the media bombards us with fear. Society seems determined to strip away our sense of peace and control. However, the reality is that each of us has an incredible power – the power to control our experience of life by shifting to a positive perspective. It sounds cliché, but positive thinking truly can transform your world. The science is clear – you cannot experience a reality that you are not on the vibrational frequency to receive. Just as you can’t hear a radio station unless you tune to its specific frequency, you cannot experience negativity if you maintain a genuinely positive state of being. Just as a plant grows, I believe that life should be considered in that same way. A plant sinks its roots deep and reaches up towards its highest excitement, light. Over time, based on the environment, some leaves will fall off & die, Some will get stronger, healthier and more vibrant. At least, that is what the plants are doing in my room currently. It's interesting to witness. Plants are continuously seeking to pursue their highest excitements to the best of its ability with zero expectation of the outcome. It's a representation of life, one that I resonate with at least. That's where the beauty of the plant comes in. No-one tells a plant how it grows. It just happens to grow that way. A plant is self aware enough to grow in a way that best suits it to flourish in the environment it is in without instruction. All it needs is its core needs: water, sunlight and positive vibrations. 🌱 (Personal Space) I turned 31 on May 27th. This year has been a great one so far. It's a blessing. I have a lot to be grateful for in 2024. Time moves faster the older we get, it feels like. This year has been a whirlwind of flow, execution and continuous learning. This post might be a little different from the rest. & That's Cool. You're here which shows that you are interested in realizing the power that you have within you. I love that this blog allows me to come back and add to my posts, reflecting the growth I've had. The purpose of this post was to share ancient knowledge that is still very much applicable to life today. I've finished a few more books since I've started this blog and now have much more to share. The information of this world.....this life....this existence has already been written down somewhere by people that have came & gone but their wisdom are here to stay. First Off: All is Mind. (We will discuss this more in depth later in the blog) & Therefore, Knowledge is Priceless. To truly make strides in your life, you will need to accumulate wisdom. "Ye are the ultimate of all things. Only the knowledge of this forgotten" - Djehuty / Thoth (written in the Emerald Tablets Wisdom is the key living a healthy & successful life. Wisdom comes the combination of knowledge and experience. "Ye know that knowledge is gained only by practice, and wisdom comes forth only from knowledge, and thus are the cycles created by law" - Djehuty / Thoth [ W I S D O M = K N O W L E D G E + E X P E R I E N C E ] The life you experience is the life you focus on. To harness that strength that you have within, you have to practice your ability to clear out all negative thoughts in your mind. That takes intention, discipline, isolation and patience. "Only the one who is seeking may ever hope to be free" - Djehuty / Thoth. Discover your purpose. If you don't feel that you have a purpose, create one and walk in that direction. Pick up & read books. Seek out useful content. Find mentors that are in the spaces you'd like to be in. You will find out that your journey will be a winding road with ups and downs but what matters most is that you start. The more you're able to clear your mind from negative self talk, the stronger your intuition will be. This will put you on a different frequency of thought. Success should be defined uniquely by your desires. Nothing Else Matters. As said by my mentor, the great Earl Nightingale: "Success the Progressive Realization of a Worthy Ideal. " Your success depends entirely on your perspective. Understanding perspective is one of the most powerful understandings we can have. We all have life experiences worth sharing. The majority of us have only been taught about life in a certain way. My goal is create a life of freedom for myself, love for others, abundance and self-awareness. In doing so, I am called to share from experience the wisdom that I myself searched for in order to give you a different perspective to understanding the power that you have within yourself. I seek wisdom by listening to elders & mentors. I question the status quo and seek additional knowledge to help me better understand the reality that we all live in. I don't care who's elders. Your elders, my elders, his elders, the elders wrote research/ books, the elders who had a hard life, youtube's elders, EVERYBODY's elders. As long as their communication (verbal & non-verbal) feels true & authentic, I'm listening. Obviously you can't take what everyone else says to heart (there's human nature to consider) but discernment is key. Right is right. Wrong is wrong. We can all feel that on some fundamental level. Knowing right from wrong, we all owe it to ourselves to become our highest selves. If you choose to put in the work to realize, love and accept yourself for who you are, you will be better positioned to make judgements that are better suited for your own life. It's not an easy road but your journey is the purpose. Your highest self is realized through an healthy alignment of your minds, bodies, hearts and souls. Which means you are at peace with where you are in your life & who you are right now. "Right Now" is everlasting. It is always the present. We can't change our pasts and we can't determine our futures but we can dictate how we feel right now. To give an example, Think about a time when you were arguing with someone you love and someone else showed up. More than likely you and your partner chose to stop arguing in the midst of company. It was a choice. That same choice can be made when negative thoughts creep into our minds. Your mind thinks, your body feels, your heart knows and your spirit...is. When those systems can agree with one another and equally work to pick up the slack of another at any point in time, you will have harmony within yourself. You will have harmony within your soul because regardless of what is going on in the world, You Know Who You Are. You will be a buoy floating steadily and balanced in the sea of circumstance. Our society currently elicits many questions. There is a continuous attempt to divide between race, class, gender, politics, religion and even health. Break down concepts. Understand the Fundamentals. Reinterpret & recreate from your own perspective and experience. What You Think, What You Do & How You Feel Creates Your Existence. Thats Truth. To understand truth, we have to be open to listening to other critical perspectives before giving our own opinion. We are going to look back at the fundamental principles of ancient civilizations thousands of years ago. Why? because that knowledge already existed before anything we've been exposed to or taught in our universally traditional educational systems. I work to break concepts down to understand the fundamentals. From that understanding, I can begin to reinterpret the concept from my own perspective. In my quest for knowledge, I came across a few fundamental but powerful principles that I'd like to share for those of you that want to become the best version of yourself. What's cool about them is that they are from the advanced ancient Kemetic (Egyptian) civilization from over 5000 years ago. The principles were developed written by Thoth / Djehuty / Hermes Trismegistus (the same figure across various cultures) and they still stand the test of time. Please go and look up anything and everything that interests you for yourself. There's so much to learn. There are 7 Universal Truths or Laws Mentality, Correspondence, Vibration, Polarity, Gender, Rhythm, and Cause & Effect. This is knowledge that I found to be completely profound and applicable to the design of anyone's life direction. The Principle of Mentalism "All is mind; the universe is mental." This principle states that the universe is a mental creation, and everything that exists is a product of the mind. Everything has to happen as a result of the mental state that proceeded it. The Egyptian God Thoth, also known as Djehuty / Tehuti, was the god of wisdom, knowledge, and writing, and was believed to be the creator of the hieroglyphic writing system. Thoth was also associated with the principle of mentalism, as he was believed to be the keeper of knowledge and the one who wrote down the laws of the universe. To design our lives using this principle, we must recognize the power of our thoughts and intentions and focus on positive outcomes. It is important to maintain balance and order in one's thoughts. By cultivating a positive and focused mindset, we can create the reality they want and manifest their desires. To change your reality, change the way you think. The Principle of Mentalism teaches us that our thoughts have the power to create our reality. This understanding "enables the individual to readily grasp the laws of the Mental universe, and to apply the same to his well bing and advancement" - The Kybalion. However, it is important to remember that our thoughts are not only individual, but also collective. The thoughts and beliefs of the collective consciousness can impact our personal reality, which is why it is important to work towards creating positive change on a larger scale. It is also important to remember that not all of our thoughts are our true self. Our thoughts create things, conditions, and our state of existence. We should be responsible for everything create by being responsible for what we think. Our thoughts are continuously impacted and affected by our environment, the nurture given to us and our perspective on the world as we see it. Which means they can be swayed if one is not in control of their reaction to their thoughts. Meditation is key to clearing out every thought that doesn't belong. Use your mind to create a reality you want to see that is better for all of us. I apply this law and a few others that will be described below as I aim to become the best version of myself and be one of the most impactful designers to ever live. The Principle of Correspondence "What is Above is From the Below, What is Below is From the Above." This principle suggests that there is a correspondence between the various levels of existence, and that the patterns and structures of the universe are reflected in all things. It is like a mirror. As above, so below. As within, so without. The ancients "considered this principle as one of the most important mental instruments by which man was able to pry aside the obstacles which hid from view the Unknown" - The Kybalion. In Ancient Egypt/Kemet, the principle of correspondence was represented by the concept of the microcosm (the individual units that make the whole) and macrocosm (the totality), which refers to the idea that everything in the universe is interconnected and reflects the whole. Think of the similarities between the structure of our solar system and what we know about the structure of an atom. The structures are the exact same on all scales of existence. The same pattern repeats. Furthermore, our personal actions and choices can have a ripple effect on the world around us. By living in alignment with the principles of harmony and balance, we can contribute to a more positive and peaceful world. Understanding the Principle of Correspondence is important because it helps us understand the interconnectedness of all things and the oneness of the universe. Our outer worlds are reflections of our inner world which if altered will create changes in the outer world. In order to make changes in our physical reality, We must first look within. To apply this principle to design one's life, one must recognize that everything is connected. We must strive to maintain balance and harmony in all areas of life (mental, physical, spiritual). The Principle of Vibration "Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates." The Principle of Vibration states that everything is in constant motion and that nothing is truly still. This means that change is always possible, and that we have the power to create positive change in our lives and in the world. By raising our vibrational frequency through practices such as meditation, mindfulness, and gratitude, we can attract more positivity into our lives. Close your eyes and listen to the world around you. Listen to the cars & planes travel. Listen to the chatter outside of your window. If it's quiet, you can listen to your own heart beat. Everything is moving, constantly. The principle of Vibration suggests that even seemingly still objects, such as a rock, are actually in a state of vibration at the molecular level even if it is seemingly imperceptible to our eyes. To understand how to use this principle, it's important to realize that everything in the universe is made up of energy, and that energy vibrates at different frequencies. These frequencies can be high or low, and they can have a significant impact on our lives. Positive vibrations are high-frequency thinking patterns, attitudes, emotions, whereas negative vibrations are low-frequency thinking patterns, attitudes and emotions. The easiest way to identify a negative vibration is to be aware of when and how we feel resistance within ourselves. Positive vibrations make us feel at ease, while negative vibrations can make us feel fearful, envious, doubtful, worried and anxious. We also often pick up on energies that don’t belong to us. If we continue to take on energy that isn't ours, we begin to identify these energies as a part of who we are, which can make us feel stuck in a low vibrational state. We all need to let go of this resistance and live in accordance with our sense of inner peace. To increase our own personal vibration, we need to focus on cultivating positive energy within ourselves. This can be done through practices such as meditation, gratitude, positive thinking, and acts of kindness. When we raise our own vibration, we are better able to attract positive experiences and people into our lives. To use this principle to design our own lives, we need to understand that the energy we put out into the universe through our thoughts, actions, and words is reflected back to us in the form of experiences. Therefore, if we want to attract positive experiences, we need to focus on maintaining a positive vibration by staying in alignment with our values, focusing on what we want rather than what we don't want, and taking action towards our goals. Affirm yourself. It's important to remember that our bodies are made of over 60% water and our brains are 70%+ water. Think about about what happens to water when the slightest vibration affects it. Those same things happen to our mind and body when we are exposed to certain frequencies & vibrations. In essence, the Hermetic Principle of Vibration is a reminder that everything in the universe is connected through energy and that by understanding and working with this principle, we can raise our own vibration and design a more positive and fulfilling life for ourselves. Look into Cymatics (the study of sound & vibration made visible) if you're interested in how certain frequencies can affect the body. The Principle of Polarity "Everything is dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree; extremes meet; all truth are but half-truths; all paradoxes may be reconciled." The Principle of Polarity states that everything in the universe has two sides or two opposite poles, such as light and dark, high and low, good and evil, and hot and cold. This principle is closely connected to the Ancient Egyptian/Kemetic concept of duality, which was believed to be a necessary aspect of the universe. It teaches that things that are seemingly disparate only vary by matters of degree and that we cannot have one thing without the other. The Principle of Polarity reminds us that there are two opposite poles to everything, and that these poles are necessary for existence. This means that we cannot have light without darkness, or good without evil. By embracing both the light and the dark aspects of ourselves, we can achieve a greater sense of balance and harmony within ourselves and in the world. Ever heard the statement, Love & Hate are the same thing? The differences are merely varying degrees of the same thing. There is no absolute point where love ends and hate begins. But hate can be turned into love, by changing the polarity. It is possible to "change the vibrations of hate to the vibrations of love, in one's own mind, and in the mind of others" - The Kybalion. The art of polarization is a phase of mental alchemy. Understanding the Principle of Polarity will enable one to change his own polarity because it helps us understand that everything in the universe has both positive and negative aspects. With that information, we tap into our mental states and find a balance necessary for harmony and growth. To change how we see things, allows us to throw light on many different subjects within our own experiences. The Principle of Rhythm "Everything flows, out and in; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall; the pendulum-swing manifests in everything; the measure of the swing to the right is the measure of the swing to the left; rhythm compensates." The Principle of Rhythm describes the cyclical nature of the universe. Everything has a rhythm and a cycle, and that these cycles are necessary for growth and change. The principle of rhythm suggests that everything in the universe has its own tides and cycles of change, just like the tides of the ocean or the cycles of the moon, or even fashion trends. All things rise and fall, ebb and flow, and move in a cyclical pattern. The pendulum-swing manifests in everything, meaning that all things swing back and forth like a pendulum, from one extreme to the other. Moreover, the principle of rhythm states that the measure of the swing to the right is the measure of the swing to the left. This means that when something reaches its peak, it will inevitably swing back in the opposite direction with the same measure. For example, when a business is experiencing a period of growth, it will eventually swing back to a period of decline. Similarly, when an individual experiences a period of happiness, they will eventually experience a period of sadness. Understanding this should give us a hopeful, more appreciative perspective on reality. Life is full of Ebbs & Flows. Appreciate the great times and hold steady on the hard times because you know that good times will come. The principle of rhythm suggests that rhythm compensates. This means that when something swings too far in one direction, the swing will eventually correct itself and swing back in the opposite direction. For example, if a person is too focused on work and neglecting their personal life, they may eventually swing back and focus too much on their personal life, neglecting their work. Everything in the universe moves in a rhythmic pattern, with cycles of growth and decline, and swings back and forth like a pendulum. The measure of the swing to the right is the measure of the swing to the left, and rhythm compensates by correcting swings that go too far in one direction. This means that we must be patient and allow things to unfold in their own time. By trusting in the natural rhythm of the universe, we can find peace and acceptance in the present moment. The Principle of Cause and Effect "Every Cause has its Effect; every Effect has its Cause; everything happens according to Law; Chance is but a name for Law not recognized; there are many planes of causation, but nothing escapes the Law." The Principle of Cause and Effect states that everything has a cause and that every cause has an effect. This means that nothing happens by chance or coincidence, but rather everything is the result of a specific cause or set of causes. The principle of Cause and Effect also suggests that everything in the universe happens according to law. This means that there are certain natural laws that govern the workings of the universe, and that these laws are consistent and unchanging. For example, the law of gravity governs the way that objects are attracted to each other, and this law operates consistently throughout the universe. The principle of Cause and Effect asserts that chance is not a real phenomenon, but rather a name given to the operation of laws that we do not yet understand or recognize. This means that events that may appear to be random or coincidental are in fact the result of specific causes or factors that we may not be aware of. Nothing in the universe escapes this law. Which means that every action, thought, and emotion has a consequence, and that we are all subject to the workings of the natural laws of the universe. In essence, the principle of Cause and Effect is a reminder that everything we do has a consequence, and that we are all connected to each other and to the universe as a whole. This means that we must take responsibility for our choices and work towards creating positive outcomes. By understanding and respecting this principle, we can learn to live in harmony with the natural laws of the universe and create a more fulfilling and purposeful life. The Principle of Gender "Gender is in everything; everything has its Masculine and Feminine Principles; Gender manifests on all planes." The Principle of Gender states that everything has a masculine and feminine components, and that these aspects are necessary for creation and manifestation on all planes of existence (physical, spiritual, mental). There is a such thing as mental gender which involves the masculine and feminine aspects of the mind. Our left brain largely facilitates the masculine mind with intellect, logic, and linear thought processes. While the right brain facilitates the feminine mind with creativity, compassion and wholistic thought processes. Keep in mind that this has nothing to do with sexuality and moreso the nature of Gender. We must embrace both our masculine and feminine energies in order to create a balanced and harmonious life. . Today, these principles are still relevant and can be used to design our own lives through self-actualization and the understanding of interconnection and oneness. By understanding these principles, we can better understand ourselves and our place in the universe, and can work to create a better future for ourselves and for all beings. In order to create the future we want, it is important that we learn how to design and think for ourselves. The Seven Hermetic Principles provide a framework for understanding the universe and our place within it. By understanding these principles, we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us, and can use this knowledge to create positive change in our lives and in the world. This belief has been with me since my early days at the University of Southern California (2014), where I developed the concept for a mobile basketball court for my architectural thesis. Although my intent was to utilize cross-disciplinary experiences to create memorable architecture, I realize that I missed the bigger picture in 2014. I proposed to utilize a new / one Trip 40' High Cube (HC) Shipping Container to give her ample space. The dimensions of a standard HC shipping container is 8-0" W x 40'-0"L x 9'-6"H. That is 320 SF of floor area. The containers are strong, durable and fire resistant. They can be an efficient use of space when designed effectively. I needed to make sure that this project would be fabricated in a controlled factory setting by professionals, allowing for a better space. I knew that lounge space would be a valuable rentable asset for Vassé Rendezvous. I placed a 8' x 7' office on one end to maximize the long rectangular shape of the shipping container. The rest of the space will be maximized as the lounge area for those coming in from the hot sun or windy weather. The lounge area was strategically placed on the side of the shipping container double doors to give the flexibility of having an open space with 3 different door locations. This design decision gave passive ventilation and ample natural lighting. To add some flavor to the lounge, a rooftop deck with set of stairs welded onto the short end was added as well. The rooftop deck will add a layer of open air seating and an additional 320 SF to occupy which maximizes the amount of people that experience the lounge. Guesscreative executed the vision by designing the floor plans and elevations that gave the fabricators a clear concept of what is required for the project. Demetrica chose the paint colors she wanted, a deep chocolate exterior with beige interior, luxury vinyl tile flooring and ebony stained wood composite for the rooftop decking that also has cable wire railing. The windows and large 8' mirrored french doors have a bronze finish along with the beautiful sconces. The doors were very expensive. Exterior Wall Assembly: - Shipping Container Corrugated Metal - R-13 Sprayfoam Insulation - 2x4 Prime Whitewood Wood Studs - 1/2" Drywall There is also R-6.5 sprayfoam insulation in the floors & R-19 in the ceilings. The electrical panel is 150 Amps and the space will be heated / cooled by a 12,000 BTU Ductless Mini Split System with two blowers. I am grateful that the build came out successfully. We learned a lot during the process, particularly what to look for when building with certain fabricators.
